September RELEASE finale!

And some REALLY, really happy mail!

First... a last card...

Well, certainly, not LAST as in forever... THIS STAMP SET IS A KEEPER!!! If you've been following this release, via Dawn, and the other W9 cuties, no doubt you've heard each of us remarking about the exceptional fun we've had with this particular set. {It's not that Dawn's other sets aren't wonderful - THEY ARE!!!} I guess it's just that... a girl loves FLOWERS! And these will work whether you've got a brown OR a green thumb... a seasonal allergy... or whatever! It's hard to deny that these flowers, the sentiments included, and the accessories {ie. leaves, flower buds, line and bold graphics... } ~ are ALL purpose! Indeed!

Here's some shots of the fun I had "enhancing" some D/P and making some of my own...

Although you can't really see it in the final photo, I stuffed my little envelope with some happily stamped vanilla card stock! {Gosh, I need to remember to let the stamps out in the pasture more often!} Making background paper and just stamping like a maniac is a good time!!!

All assembled an READY to send out HUGE congratulations and lots of love.......

I definitely got my "girl - on!" for the pre-release celebration, but once the dust settles, you can bet I'll be kicking out some horsey-lovin' western art with this baby - you JUST wait! {Yee Haw!}

Check out the rest of the wonderful WPLUS9 team and dust off your credit card ~ THIS set is available for purchase, as of September 1st... I, for one, will be THRILLED when I see this set sprinkled out around Blogland... I KNOW some excellent cards are up your sleeve - Yahoooo!

New RELEASE - day 2!

Howdy, FOLKS!

It's day two for W9 ~ I'm here in an effort to dazzle and delight with THIS gorgeous set, Ever After! {Not hard to do, since the stamps are perfectly capable of dazzle and delight all by themselves!} But HERE I go!

I got ALL vintagy with these WONDERFUL floral images and this terrific sentiment! I've been staring at this lovely gal and her friends from Graphic 45, so my heart was set on matching Dawn's exquisite images with this DARLING girl!

Apparently, I didn't have ENOUGH fun {Doh!} stamp, stamp, stamping these glorious gardenia images and stacking them, in yesterday's post, so I had to do it ~ some more! If you're a regular visitor around these parts, you know I rarely "just stamp"... But, I'm telling you, with these lil' darlings, the options are ENDLESS! If you saw what some of the other gals did yesterday, I'm sure you enjoyed the breath taking possibility of the elegant simplicity that is such a wonderful benefit of this set. Once again, we're all at it, so I hope you'll enjoy what the rest of the team has done as well - with SUCH a diverse group, you're bound to get a LOT of terrific ideas!

Some WAY-OUT fun with the PDCC!

I'm BEYOND tickled to be designing with the crazy-talented designers from the Play Date Cafe, again, this week! {And I mean CRAZY-talented!} Not only is this a terrific way to be inspired and flex your craft muscles in ways that you NEVER thought they could bend {!}, but I find SO much inspiration from the participants of the cafe! As a collection of crafters - I find them to be WAY artsy and certainly expert purveyors of some of the juiciest materials and unique ideas... So, with that said, you might not be surprised by this week's color CHALLENGE...

This is NOT your ordinary color combo, to say the least!

Now, I probably won't admit this, IRL.... but I think the last time I tried to combine THESE particular colors was EARLY in the 1990's... {But that's all I have to say about that.} For now, I'll just say that SARAH!!!! {Sarah did it!} came up with this extraordinary color CHALLENGE! {Yes, MA'AM!}... Just like last time - I got a little panicked... {"Wait, WHAT!?!" I thought!} So, I swirled some card stock around on my desk top, and SWORE I wouldn't reach for western stamps... {Just don't want to be too predictable... tee hee}... Somewhere in my process was a college flashback, and the stubborn insistence to do something pleasing with these colors... but from there - I grabbed some of my favorite stamps by Dawn Woleslagle,... Ink! Embossing tools... RIBBON! Giddy up, friends! In spite of the strain - I came up with something that I'm not all together unhappy with...

Now, I'm thinkin' "I MEANT TO DO THAT!" {hee hee} It's not a bad little combo, at all, really! Try it! You'll see! In fact, let's see what the insanely fabulous designers from "the CAFE" came up with!

I SURE hope you'll find some time to challenge yourself in a big, big way and PLAY with these exciting colors and this WONDERFUL crowd, over at the Play Date Cafe! Yee Haw!

10 Things I Learned From My Horse...

Mr. Pee Wee

1) Horses can be extremely gentle, thoughtful and even gracious.

2) Deep, intelligent, soft eyes = all of the above...

3) It's possible to have a horse that will NEVER kick or bite - EVER!

4) A horse can truly talk, and has their own unique voice.

5) Being "spooked" by the little things... isn't necessary if you're truly a class act.

6) The beach is a place were secret "high gears" can be used... FAST GEARS!

7) It's not a scary to ride a horse with "high gears" if his name is Pee Wee.

8) Not only dogs know how to fetch! {Pee Wee once fetched a cell phone for a radio personality and won his former owner a CRUISE!}

9) It's truly possible to have a "best friend" in a horse.

10) A horse, like Pee Wee doesn't come along very often. If you find one, ENJOY him all that you can.

And one last thing...

When and if your horse becomes ill, in his later years... Having the courage and respect to let him go, even when he seems to be doing "okay" for the moment... Is the right thing to do.

Even if it breaks your heart.

I write this sad post today in memory of the greatest horse I've ever known, Mr. Pee Wee. I apologize for just putting it right out there, but I've shared this wonderful friend, so much, with my blogging friends, I just felt the need to share this loss.

I sure hope you understand. God bless all of you and your animal friends. I TRULY appreciate that you stopped by...

All Eyes On... MY MUST HAVES!

There are several craft materials that I cannot live without....

Several HUNDRED, that is!
How wonderful of Dawn {WPLUS9} to inspire us to think about what our most cherished and important tools are...

Here are a FEW tools that without, I, simply could NOT get my craft on...

My DETAIL scissors, a sharp x-acto blade and EMBOSSING plates!

If I was stranded on a desert island and these were all the "tools" I could own, they would certainly be my "must haves"...
But, of course, I'd be nothin' without good STAMPS... Like these:

I made this card, specifically, to feature, some of my MOST favorite ways to spark my creative flow - detail cut images.... A little bit of ink, direct to stamp {the custom colored birdies!}, and, embossed paper to show a whole extra layer of color depth! Since my color motivation for this lil' dandy came from my WONDERFUL friends at the Play Date Cafe..., I just want to say {YUMMMM!} and that a little embossing of the old card stock can really perk up color depth!

{Isn't that a FUN palette!} I had SUCH a great time, guest designing, with these lovely folks last week, I couldn't stay away!!! This was the perfect color combo to let my tools and materials get up and DANCE! I wonder what materials OTHER GALS can't live without... Oh, hey, wait! I have a terrific idea, go check out the rest of Dawn's design team pals and see what they need to get their craft on and I GUARANTEE, it will make you want to do the same!!! I hope so!

Thanks for popping by!

Four LITTLE words...

....direct, and to the point!

This was the PERFECT motto for me this afternoon. All I wanted from my day was to carve out a bit of time to make a card for the WONDERFUL, crafty, Just Us Girls Challenge. They are having a challenge theme... sort of... custom made.. FOR A GIRL LIKE ME! Yeeeeeee HAWWWWW!!!!

Get your WILD and WESTERN ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! And by all means, don't FENCE A CRAFTER IN....! {That's just NOT a smart thing to do ~ even if you are holding a lunge whip... Don't keep a CRAFTER from her craft!!!!} That's what I tried to tell "my day" anyhow. Needless to say, I'm burning the way-late night oil to get this little mare into the JUGS challenge before the DEADLINE!!! {I realize that I just went on and on about "no" fences... but a good deadline is still necessary, once in a while! DOH! ;o)} Anywhoo, any part of a healthy "theme challenge" needs some "sketch", so here's one I sure liked playin' with...

CRAZY Card Patterns ladies, dolling out some TERRIFIC inspiration, once again - It was PERFECT for my bit of WESTERN craft!!! I'll say, PILGRIM...! Giddy on up, giddy on OUT! It was a nice way to top off my day... I'm sounding punchy and silly, but at least I got to let my craft run FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I'm DELIGHTED for the fun and THRILLED by both of these challenges - if you get a sec, and you haven't had a chance to partake... "GIT ER DONE!"

YEE HAW!!!!!

Leftovers, ANYONE!?!

Every once in a while, I consider the growing bucket of LEFTOVERS that collect on my craft table... a button here, a stamped thing-a-ma-jig... a bit of ribbon, a heavenly strip of paper that makes my heart race... {I know, YOU know, what I'm talking about!!!}

I haven't had much time for "fresh" card craft this week, but here a little dilly that I basically just assembled from leftovers! {It works for DINNER! Why not card making!!! hee hee} It was fun and EASY and, thank goodness, I have a little something to share with you today... {!}

I've sent ONE child back to school, and I'm slashing things from my most LENGTHY to-do list {YEE HAW!} So here's one more share... forgive me - you've already seen a lot of this one fella, but I wanted to share the whole "herd" together!

Here's the completed, "Mac!"

And, finally{!}, his partner, "Tess!"

As of yesterday, they are officially, signed, sealed and delivered! {YEAHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!} I hope to, ONE day, have a picture of them in the GORGEOUS, renovated home of their proud owner {she owns the REAL horses AND the paintings!}, but for now, I'll offer this picture I took quickly, before I delivered them -

The idea is that they'll hang within about 4 feet of each other, framed by their complimentary composition and background{*PHEW!*} ~ I'm DELIGHTED to have them finished and delivered!

So, thanks for indulging me in this FINAL share.... I'm hopeful that unloading these lovely creatures will free up my fine art gears to run a LOT faster!!! {Doh!}

Have a WONDERFUL day!

Lucky Number SEVEN!

It's time for Dawn Woleslagle's 7th Color Cue! {Can you believe we're up to number SEVEN, already!?!} Number six just wrapped up, and I'm telling you, everyone who played, DAZZLED with their wonderful creations! {If you haven't checked out WHO was on CUE... don't delay... IT MIGHT BE YOU!} So hoist your sails, ur, I mean colors, and stamps galore, sit back, be inspired let's make some MORE!

Be ready to set sail with this DREAMY color palette!

I had SUCH a stampingly great time using stamps from The Guiding Light set...! Of course, paper piecing and scene building were integral to my inspiration. I was DREAMING of a way to put a sail on this lil' boat, although that's not included with the image - please forgive me, I had to make one...! But even if you don't want to get down with the detail scissors, just a simple triangle set up from paper scraps would make a vibrant, nautical crown on this darling boat image. I've been in love with hot air balloons this summer, so I wanted to make a sail, similarly, and with MORE stamps from this great set. {I'm going to get a little fussy with some details, so bypass the rest of this paragraph if you're not interested!} Although this is a fairly simple scene, I was itching to dig a little deeper into materials. In trying to stay true to the color palette, suggested by Dawn, I didn't want to use too much craft color in my main image ~ that's when I got the idea to use some Tim Holtz CRACKLE PAINT {Yeah!!!!!! Double bonus points for using something DEEP in my stash!!!!} ... I swiped some paint in long strips onto some craft card stock and then waited for it to dry and CRACKLE!!!! THEN, I stamped the boat image on top of the painted swatch, multiple times along the direction of the crackle, so that when I paper pieced the boat back together, the grain would look accurate... {!} CHECK! {I liked it!} THEN, I stamped and embossed the sand dollar image on Riding Hood Red card stock... BUT since, I was going to adhere it on top of what is supposed to be a sheer-looking sail image I didn't want it to be too thick. I cut a small square around the image and then rubbed it, from the back, with the edge of my detail scissors, so I could peel the layers apart... {YEAHOOOO!} It peeled apart EXACTLY as I had hoped! CHECK! So I glued it down, right in the middle of the sail!

Here's a close-up shot so you can, hopefully, see the details...

The sentiment is from Dawn's "Magical Moments" set... I could almost HEAR cheerful sailing music as I stamped this! I thought a lot about Dawn and Kerrianne and how they live in an area that may look similar to this... ACTUALLY, I've seen a few gals who are from North Carolina - and um, yeah! This may be the view from YOUR backyard, you lucky ducks! Either way, stamping with these beauties means I can make this scene ~ ANYWHERE! It's just funny to think were a stamper's mind goes while she's-a-craftin'!

So, that's my overly-CHATTY share for the latest Color Cue from Stamp Away With Me and WPLUS9designstudio... Will YOU join us? We'd LOVE it! And if you won't take my word for it, check out what the other fab designers have created with this summery-fun palette!

Don't forget the sun block! I'm DELIGHTED that you sailed on in for a visit - I LOVE having you here! Enjoy!

Goin' green with the Play Date Cafe!

I'm BEYOND thrilled to be bringing you some super fun card craft, with one EXHILARATING color palette, from my friends at the Play Date Cafe! I was invited to guest host this week, with the magnificent design team that makes a DATE at the Cafe, the hottest seat in town! Even more exciting... I've even been invited to return the week of 8/26 {!}, so I'm all giddy and feeling MORE colorful for my involvement with this terrific challenge site! I SOOOOO sincerely hope YOU will play along!

Upon contemplating the colors from the Play Date color "story", I have to admit something that I don't usually share... with "blogland" public... I was... STUMPED! Now, I've been at this blog business for well over a year, and I generally feel fairly confident with my use of color .. BUT I have to admit - I WAS STUMPED! Check THIS out!

Okay, is that picture worth a THOUSAND words {or CAMELS!}...??? I mean it's gorgeous! It's almost too gorgeous. If you get a chance, go to Sarah's personal blog - she's AMAZING! In fact, make sure you check out ALL of the DT's private blogs - you never know how deeply inspired you might become, until you read about their process!

So, when I was designing my card alone, I wondered what YOUR process is? Do you have one? How do you tackle a good color challenge? Besides drooling over a good design team offering and contemplating a brilliant color inspiration... what do YOU do?

Well, first thing I do is "shop" in my stash for card stock and goodies that fill the color requirements... And if I don't start sprouting ideas, I do a chore or two.. OUTSIDE "Scrapland"... One place were I usually find inspiration is ...

... with my horses... The good news is that one look at my dear old man, "Mr. Pee Wee" and I was ready to create!!!
Inspiration took hold and I returned to Scrapland to crank out the goods.......!

{Horse stamps! Uh huh....!}

Well, I didn't have CAMEL stamps! {Yet! tee hee} Okay, I'm not usually THAT literal... but.... What's a girl to do when there is a little creative block in the way? OH, yeah, the other thing I like to do is turn to a lil' sketch inspiration - I can't believe how medicinal some sketch therapy can be! I turned to the CARD PATTERNS folks {again!!!}...

So, PHEW! Tragedy avoided! I worked past my creative BLIND spot and cranked out a card! Funny to think that MY blind spot might be the perfect lens for YOU... We're ALL wired differently! But one thing, we all craft though it - TOGETHER! I am SO looking forward to seeing what gets made with these incredible colors and FANTASTIC inspiration... If you need some extra help, you can always come over and clean horse stalls with me! hee hee {Just sayin'!} Meanwhile, just click on over to the Play Date Cafe and get some color challenge ON! Yee Haw!

THANK you, SO MUCH, for stopping by!

Time for a quickie!

Sometimes that's ALL there is!

And sometimes - just a little time, is a GREAT time!

That's how it went down for me, this afternoon, in Scrapland! Just a quick card to dash in at the very last minute to the Play Date Cafe (*Swoon*) and a fun composition from Get Sketchy!

Check out this absolutely DREAMY photo and colors of inspiration, brought to you from Julie, the well traveled and completely inspiring hostess of Play Date Cafe!!!

It was the PERFECT palette and sophisticated inspiration for me to finally break out my Tim Holtz/Sizzix embossing folder... the one that looks like a brick wall.... {YIPEEE!} And, I found that this fabulous sketch from the talented Get Sketchy artists... to be just the thing to help me get my images and colors glued together!

Sometimes, a little time is all that is needed!

Hope you get WHATEVER kind of time you need to get some craft-ON, today! I love when the planets line up and a little time becomes CRAFT TIME! Yee Haw!

Speaking of CRAFT TIME! I hope you'll check back with me late, tomorrow night... I'm quite delighted and HONORED to be helping the Play Date Cafe team introduce their newest palette! So, it is my supreme hope that you might catch a little wave of inspiration and join on up!

And, in my mind, I'm hearing that guy who used to do the voice-overs for Motel 6... {I sure hope that was, at least, a NATIONAL ad campaign....} He used to say "I'm Tom Bodett, for Motel 6, and we'll leave the light on for ya!" It was most inviting, and his voice was simply hypnotic! It made the thought of crappy motel room coffee, the whirring of an ice machine {all night long} and paper-wrapped soap seem so homey and inviting...

I wonder if that's where Dawn got the idea for this fabulous sentiment?

I don't know... but she's got a BUNCH of 'em! CHECK OUT ALL OF HER NEW STAMPS! There are images and coordinating backgrounds and sentiments galore!!! On her blog, she's released all of the images for your viewing pleasure and SOON you'll be able to buy them for YOURSELF! Not to mention that you might WIN some, if you've been playing along... {!} And a little bird told me that Savitri's got some candy at her pad as well.... {Oh, we ARRRRRE fun! hee heeeee!}

Now that the top secret images are viewable, I must say that I got busy and mixed up SEVERAL of Dawn's new darlings, and even combined those AWESOME rays from Courtney's "You're A Dandy" {*Swoon!*}, some Design Basics: Backgrounds II, AND some of my favorite images from the new release from THIS set, Guiding Light! It was a FESTIVAL of the stamp in my lil' Scrapland today! I hope YOU feel the light and grab some of these babies while the gettin's good...

But if, for some odd reason, you're not TOTALLY convinced that Dawn's latest release is a "must have".... {hee hee} visit THESE happy and satisfied designers for more divine inspiration!
